Kati Verebics At Ari Kupsus Gallery

Thursday, March 31, 2016

Works of Hungarian artist Kati Verebics are displayed at Ari Kupsus Gallery in Budapest. In addition to her oil paintings she creates fascinating collages based on photos she's taken herself or found in books & magazines. Interesting people  inspires her and she prefers to paint figures rather than landscapes.

If you have a chance, pop in to Ari's gallery on Brody Sandor utca 23 to see Kati's works!

So Spring-ish!

Shades Of Yellow

Monday, March 28, 2016

At the moment there are so many shades of yellow out there. Here're some of the hues that I explored today while walking in Budapest. Blooming branches are my favourites. Found some cute animals as well :)

 Happy Easter!

Should I Use A Flash?

Saturday, March 26, 2016

Had a chance to try different flashes in a studio workshop the other day. Light makes such a huge difference depending on its direction, if a filter or a reflector is used, etc. Here are some examples.

Great day! Thanks to Tanoda Fotoiskola in Budapest!

Easter Time

Thursday, March 24, 2016

March, Easter & spring!

As I couldn't get the texture of the Halltex panels in my photos, decided to get rid of the colors and used Only Deco Love Actions at Photoshop.

Blooming Branches

Tuesday, March 22, 2016

The task was to shot Halltex panels to show the texture and color of the different panels, and show them in another surrondings than usually. Somehow I got so fascinated by the delicate blooming branches than I found in the nearby park (yes, I did cut with clippers a branch or two out there - sorry!). I have no idea what is the name of this bush. It's one of the first spring-flowering ones and the scent is absolutely gorgeous. So anyway, here're a few pics of those branches.

Here you can see more of the Halltex panel ans its texture.

Have A Radish

Monday, March 21, 2016

Fresh radishes with some sea salt make a great snack, don't they? I don't really know how to use them otherwise. Ok, sliced in salads, but does anyone cook them?
Just read that there are different kinds of radishes. These ones are Red Globe radishes, but there are also white Winter Daikon, black Spanish, green Chinese and purple varieties.

What are the health benefits of a radish:
  • Radish is very good for liver and stomach, and it acts as a powerful detoxifier too. It purifies the blood and eliminates toxins and waste.
  • It's diurectic in nature and clenas out the kidneys.
  • It's rich in vitamin C
  • Radish is packed with antioxidants
  • It's high in fibre and relieves symptoms of constipation
  • radishes have been known to soothe sore throats and relieve congestion by clearing the sinuses.

Shot these pics near window in day light without tripod.

'Desszert neked' In Budapest

Tuesday, March 8, 2016

Found the other day a nice place for macarons and cakes in Budapest. Worth paying visit if you happen to be somewhere near Paulay Ede utca. Desszert neked ('dessert for you') also organizes dessert courses - great idea!

Something Blue For Home

Monday, March 7, 2016

Blue is such a beautiful color, and there're so many varieties of it out there. I chose sky blue for my modboards this time, both light and dark tones.
These are all found at HM Home.

Fading Tulips

Sunday, March 6, 2016

Took some pics of fading tulips. Still looking nice though, and kind of interesting.  - at least for my eyes. Shot plenty of them next to window to get more day light. I didn't use tripod nor anything to soften the incoming natural light.

What do we know about tulips:
  • tulips are definitely one of the world's most popular fresh-cut flowers
  • there're around 75 wild species of tulips
  • in the gardens tulips are blooming in spring
  • tulips are often associated to the Netherlands
  • tulip is a national flower of Turkey and Afghanistan
  • tulips are eatable

How to take care of fresh-cut tulips:
  • cut 0,5cm from the base of the stems. Use a small pair of clippers and cut the stems at an angle. This will help them soal up water from the vase.
  • Remove extra leaves from the base of the stems. The leaves could start rotting if soaked into the water and cause the flowers to go limp before their time.
  • Fill the vase with cold water. Thatbwill keepmthe stems fresh and crisp, while warm water would cause them to become weak and soggy.
  • Add some flower food. This will greatly lengthen flowers' lifespan and keep them standing tall and looking perky for as long as possible.
  • Keep the vase out of the sun. Otherwise, the tulips will wilt in the heat.
