(FI) Tampereen Finlaysonin taidepiha on vielä ens viikon auki. Tarjolla on vaikka mitä taidetta. Kävin heinäkuussa tutustumassa mm. Nanna Suden ja Canal Cheong-Jagerroosin upeisiin maalauksiin, HC Bergin mielenkintoisiin akryyliteoksiin sekä suomalaisen lasintaiteen helmiin.

Kivoja yksityiskohtia löytyy vähän sieltä sun täältä kuten esim. asfaltille maalattuja Finlaysonin kankaita. Myös Marko Vuokolan jättimäinen valokuvateos Ikkuna on aika vaikuttava.

The Finlayson Art Area in Tampere is still open until the end of next week. There are really interesting pieces of art on display such as gorgeous paintings by Nanna Susi & Canal Cheong-Jagerroos, interesting acrylic works by HC Berg and beautiful pieces of Finnish glass art over the years.

Lots of nice details everywhere in the art area. You can find there streets painted in the famous fabric patterns by Finlayson. Also the giant photograph "Window" by Marko Vuokola is quite impressive. 

Eggert Pétursson: Flora

I like to visit art exhibitions. It's great to see something inspirational - it can be beautiful, impressive or political, oe even a mixture of all these and actually much more as well. You don't necessarily need to like it and yet it can be good art.If it makes you feel something that's enough to call it good.

Had a chance to visit Pori Art Museum and see an exhibition, in fact, three different kind of exhibitions, but these pics are all from the main event. Hadn't heard anything of an Icelandic artist called Eggert Pétursson, but totally fell in love to his gourgeous paintings. When you look his paintings from a distance they look like abstract colour compositions but a closer look reveals landscapes of very precisely rendered flowers. His paintings are a fascinating blend of botanical accuracy and free painterliness.

This exhibition is called Flora and it showcases Eggert Pétursson's paintings from the early 1990s to the present. His most recent works from 2015 are now on show for the first time. The artist have planned the way every painting is displayed in this open space, meaning all the walls dividing the space and the height where the paintings are hung are decided by him.

The Flora exhibition is open at Pori Art Museum until August 28.

On Wednesdays there's a free 45min guided tour at 6pm. Highly recommended! 

The other 2 exhibitions I saw there were "East Asian Video Frames: Shades of Urbanization", which I found impressive and absolutely worth seeing. "Fluxus ny" was also interesting and gave a new point of view to see art.

Almost forgot - there's also an arty cafe and an art shop in the Pori Art Museum.

Kati Verebics At Ari Kupsus Gallery

Works of Hungarian artist Kati Verebics are displayed at Ari Kupsus Gallery in Budapest. In addition to her oil paintings she creates fascinating collages based on photos she's taken herself or found in books & magazines. Interesting people  inspires her and she prefers to paint figures rather than landscapes.

Art Exhibition - Strong & Impressive

Got an invitation to the opening of Russian-Hungarian artist El Kazovsky's exhibition at the Hungarian National Gallery up in Castle Hill.

A friend of mine knew the artist well, and she has El Kazovsky's paintings at home. Actually she lent one of them to this exhibition.

"The first article I read about punk - all negative - and the tiny black-and-white photos all hit me with such elemental power, that still today I'd love to put all my punk leather jackets...These pictures fitted all my aesthetic criteria, and I still have them: they were beautiful both as an object and as a self-image, and that can't be said for any other fashion."

Very strong, impressive and extremely interesting & fascinating, and  large exhibition of El Kazovsky's (1048-2008) works.
