Arrived to Lago di Como on the 6th day of the tour.
Stayed at Silvio's in Bellagio and made a ferry trip to Menaggio and Varenna. Beautiful places!

Lazy day in Bellagio

Monday, August 24, 2009

View of Lake Como
from room 32
.
After all that running & walking,
Sunday was a peaceful day for relaxing
in Bellagio
.
Streets of belaggio downtown
.
Local cheese shop
.
Lots of shops & fine boutiques
selling Tod's, Missoni...
.
Had lunch in downtown
.
Tortelloni filled with cheese in pesto sauce
.
Delicious piece of fruit cake
.
Rest of the day enjoyed the great view
from the balcony of room 32,
reading a book, eating crisps...
.
Sunday seemed to be a boating day!
Lots of boats at the lake
.

Silvio's

Saturday dinner at Silvio’s
- wanted to eat there once more as it was so good last time
- and this time was no disappointment either!
.
As a starter chose local mozzarella type of cheese
called burratina
with a portion of sun dried tomato, potato & zucchini
.
Main course was - surprise, surprise:
grilled lavarello
& 1 sardine - a local speciality.
Very good strong taste
.
And sorbetto ended the great dinner
.

Como Lake Iron Man - Triathlon

.
Throughout the walk saw people participating
the Thriathlon competition.
.
Cycling
.
Running
.
That must be unbelievably hard:
cycling 180km, running 42km & swimming app. 4km
.
Still half way to run!
.
Not sure if the Italian won
.
- but everyone was congratulating him,
also the TV.
.

Hiking in Bellagio

Saturday walk
.
Bellagio has an area that extends from app. 200m at sea level
to reach the peak of Monte San Primo at 1.680m
.
Bellagio is divided into 22 small hamlets
that are all extremely characteristic .
.
Walked up to Vergonese,
then up and down through Mulini del Perlo,
Visgnola, Regatola, Villa Giulia, Oliveiro…
These are all hamlets of Bellagio
.

Saw many green houses
.
No idea what is the name of this plant
with flowers and fruit at the same time
.
Lunch in Pescallo at La Pergola
Entrance to La Pergola
.
View of the lake Como
.
As a starter had caprese
- too much mozzarella, heavy one
.
As a main course had a local dish:
fried pesce persico (perch filets)
with rise & curry sauce!
- very good!
Don’t know how they had made the rice so tasty!
.
Boats in Pescallo
.
The cobble stoned paths went up & down
.
Pink house & pink flowers
.
Continued to walk to the downtown,
had an stracciatella ice cream
and sat down for a moment at Punta Spartivento
- the end of the peninsula
.
Punta Spartivento
.
Someone's villa in the end of the peninsula
.
Didn't choose the easiest way back to the hotel...
Again took a small path up & down, steep steps etc.
- not easy but very pretty

.
The path went through a farm
.

Room 32

As booking a room with Elena’s help in Cinque Terre area,
found out it was really hard to get any kind accommodation there.
Finally managed to get a room in Santa Margarita near Portofino,
but only starting on Monday.
So had to booked 2 more nights
at Borgo le Terrazzo
- actually it was a good idea:
the hotel Borgo le terrazzo is beautiful
and there are so much to see on Como Lake.
No wonder George Clooney have bought a villa there!
.
Couldn’t keep the same room (room 9)
with a beautiful view over the lake.
Changed it to room 32 - wow!
That was pure luxury!
Absolutely one of the best rooms ever!

Gorgeous view of the lake, huge balcony with sun beds,
tastefully decorated.
Loved it!
