Blueberry Smoothie For Breakfast

Sunday, July 17, 2016

Starting my week and Monday with a blueberry smoothie for breakfast. There're now so many different berries available at the local farmers' market at the moment that don't know which ones to pick up. Anyway, decided to go with blueberries today. They are real superfood.

Ingredients
Blueberries
Banana
Ginger
Chia seeds
Lucuma powder
Turmeric powder
Cinnamon powder
Coconut milk
Everything in a blender for a couple of seconds. Fast & easy.
I don't put any measures as I just pour everything straight from the package.

Just read an article which said that if you make just one change in your diet, it should be to add blueberries. Just 100g of blueberries contain the same amount of age-defying antioxidants as five servings other fruit. Antioxidants help protect from a range of cancer, heart desease, asthma, alzheimer's and ege-related neurological diseases.

Blueberries are high in vitamin C and a good sourse of fibre. They protect the heart in the same way as cholesterol-lowering drugs.

This superfood also makes us looking gorgeous as it contains polyphenols, which combat the effects of free radicals - a key cause of wrinkles - so they keep skin looking younger for longer. Blueberries also help body to make collagen, which keeps skin supple.

What are you having for breakfast?
