Art Basel Miami

Thursday, November 26, 2015

No, I'm not in Miami at the moment and won't be there next week either when once again Art Basel kicks off there. Just wanted to remind you about this event if you happened to be somewhere nearby the city.

Art Basel is the biggest art event of the year with a handful of can't-miss events featuring some of the most thought-provoking, edgy artists exhibiting alongside the most relevant pop culture acts.

Never been counting how many times I've been in Miami. It has changed a lot over the years. I even worked there for a while. Not a bad place to be :) It's always fascinating to stroll along the streets of SoBe and see all those Art Deco buildings. Nowadays Wynwood is the district for art and design, but I remember the times when it was not recommended to visit there at all.

Here'a a couple of Miami snapshots over the years...

Yes, I did go to LV and bought the limited edition scarf by RETNA in Wynwood...

And the sun is setting down...

Smoothie a la Miami

Monday, August 4, 2014

I named this smoothie "Miami" because of its delicious pink color.

1 banana
a cup of blackberries
a bit of fresh ginger
a spoonful of chia seeds
soya milk

All to the blender for a few seconds, and delicious & nutritious breakfast is ready!

Pink is definitely the color in Miami Beach!

No trip to Miami on my agenda...

Colourful Wynwood

Wednesday, March 20, 2013

Wynwood is Miami's newest trendy enclave.
It's located south of the Design district.
Abandoned warehouses have begun to be occupied by artists, restaurants, cafés, and lounges.
 Wynwood  contains over 70 galleries,
museums and art collections.
The second Saturday night of every month,
is "ArtWalk" in Wynwood, and the art galleries and studios
open their doors to the public for viewing.

Wynwood is also home to Wynwood Walls
an outdoor mural permanent exhibit featuring
some of the worlds most renowned street artists.
Additionally there are hundreds of other street art
and graffiti murals around the district curated yearly
by Primary Flight making it one of the biggest
street art districts in the world.

Even though the district is trendy
it's not a place to walk around alone.
It still remains pretty shabby - and not in a romantic way.

Design District

Wednesday, March 13, 2013

Miami Design District is located between NE 36th & 41st Streets
from NE 2nd to N Miami Avenue.

The district is full of high-end interior & fashion stores.
Prada behind the threes on 180 NE 40th Street.
The store is designed by architect Roberto Baciocchi.

Nice, trendy restaurants and narrow streets
between the old warehouses.
Miami Design District is next to Downtown and Wynwood,
which all used to be not so safe areas,
but nowadays full of art galleries and small restaurants.
Yet still not recommended to walk alone at night.

Christian Louboutin on 155 NE 40th Street.
 Stilettos in sardine tin.
The Moore Building is located in the heart
of Miami design District.
This historic venue was built in 1921
as the furniture showroom space for Moore and Sons.

Luxurious modern furniture & lighting at NiBa interiors
on 39 NE 39th Street.

Kenzo, Fendi, Armani Casa... they're all here.

 Hmm...
Bulthaup, Poltrona Frau...the list is endless.

The end of Miami Design District - North Miami Avenue.
