Random Snapshots - Into The Blue

About the colour BLUE

Blue regularly tops popularity charts thanks to its perceived calming, peaceful qualities, and its appeal goes back centuries - in the Renaissance, for example, the deep blue pigment derived from the mineral lapis lazuli was so prizes that it was used to piant the sacred robes of the Madonna.

You can create a relaxed, beachy feel with pale aquamarines (perfect set against sandy beiges); contrast blocks of brilliant cobalt with white walls or go for a jewel-box feel by saturating a space in teal, petrol and turquoise shades.

Not all blues are restful: the brighter the tone, the more invigorating the effect.

"To me, blue is the colour of distance and expansion, and makes me think of the sea and the sky - immediately happy thoughts. In an interior it has the effect of increasing the sense of spaciousness, but it really needs to be used in areaswhere the natural light is good, otherwise it can be rather clinical."
- Sir Terence Conran, designer -

"Blue is found in hte natural world, so anytime you put a colour against it, it's complementary."
- Eileen Kathryn Boyd, desiger -

Something Blue For Home

Blue is such a beautiful color, and there're so many varieties of it out there. I chose sky blue for my modboards this time, both light and dark tones.
These are all found at HM Home.

My friends have such a cosy home on Buda side next to the Chain Bridge. I love the way they have used colours there.

Little Otto seems to like it there as well!

Seaside Blues

Thursday, February 12, 2015

it looks pretty grey at the moment but summer will be here soon... that's what I want to believe... Meanwhile I checked Zara Home's collection which is full of lovely ocean blue items.

Tällä hetkellä ulkona näyttää ikävän harmaalta, mutta ihan kohta kesä on täällä...ainakin haluan uskoa niin... Kesää odotellessa selailin Zara Homen uutta tarjontaa, joka on täynnä ihastuttavaa meren sinistä.

Are you already dreaming of summer?

Haaveiletko jo kesästä?

Accessorizing A Blue Dress

accessorizing blue dress

One of ,y favorite dresses is this ark blue jersey dress. Feels like pajama! So comfy.
Oh, please, ignore my suffered feet - running, not-so-comfy sandals etc.
I know I could accessorize it much better - that's unfortunately not my strongest side.

Serum 10

Wednesday, April 2, 2014

Been using this serum for a couple of weeks now under my night cream. Just 3 drops is enough. It's a clear serum which absorbs easily into skin and makes it feel soft. There's a wide variety of V10 Serums - the blue one is hyaluronic acid, which deep-hydrates and firms the skin.

I have stopped believing in miracles in skin care - nothing makes wonders, but like in this case the feel-good factor is pretty high as my skin feels so smooth in the mornings nowadays.

Story behind the brand:
"The captivating story about V 10 started from, Aichi, in Toyota City of Japan, where people face different types of skin problems. Our founder, Mrs Akiko Yokota and together with her sister, encountered the skin counseling by chance. They were amazed by the results generated by the auto-generated system which advised them on their skin needs for the first time.
The sisters tried the customized serums and had experienced the miracles of the products to their skin within a month.
Understanding that having beautiful skin is everyone’s dream, Mrs Akiko Yokota strongly believes that having beautiful skin can be a reality using the 10 serums that cater to different skin needs. Hence, she decided to share this wonder with everyone from all parts of the world. Over the years, without doubt the quality of V 10 products had been recognized world-wide and the demand is constantly on the rise. V 10 is currently distributed in Europe, Russia, Japan, Hongkong, Singapore, Malaysia, Brunei, and Indonesia."

Tiffany Blue

Tiffany Blue is the name for the light medium robin egg blue color associated with Tiffany & Co,, the New York City jewelry company. The color was used on the cover of Tiffany's Blue Book, first published in 1845. Since then Tiffany & Co. has used the colour extensively on promotional materials, including boxes and bags.
The Tiffany Blue color is protected as a colour trademark by Tiffany & Co.
The color is produced as a private custom color by Pantone, with PMS number 1837, the number deriving from the year of Tiffany's foundation. As a trademarked colour, it is not publicly available and is not printed in the Pantone Matching System swatch books.

The colour is so fresh, just like the ocean.
(In the pics it has a bit of a different shades depending on the lighting while taking the pics...)

Cooling Blue

Saturday, August 3, 2013

I'm not a huge fan of blue (even though I couldn't imagine life without blue jeans), but a hint of blue is ok, especially in a hot summer day like this (+36C = 96F) it gives a cooling effect.
My nails in frosty blue added with some sparkles and my newest pair of sunglasses.
My small ear studs with blue crystals.
And of course, Fazer Blue, my favorite chocolate!
(Not a single piece left, ate it already some time ago...)
