healthy breakfast

Back to my favourite breakfast - berry smoothie! This time I skipped adding banana to the mixture and instead of that used Greek yoghurt and coconut drink to make it more liquid. I love berries and now the season is on and there're so much delicious, organic blueberries, blackberries and raspberries at my local farmers market.

Berry smoothie

bite of fresh ginger (I used a size of a whole thumb!)
handful of fresh berries: blueberries, blackberries & raspberries
1 tsp turmeric powder
3/4 cup oatmeal
3 tbsp Greek yoghurt
coconut drink (depending on how liquid you want it to be)

All ingredients in to blender for about 10s until the texture is smooth. Pour into glasses, drink straight away or store in fridge.

Suosikkiaamiaiseni on taas täällä - marjasmoothie!

Marjasmoothie

pala tuoretta inkivääriä (käytin koko peukalon koklisen palan)
kourallinen marjoja - mustikoita, karhunvatukoita, vadelmia
1 tl kurkumajauhetta
melkein dl kaurahiutaleita
3 rkl kreikkalaista jogurttia
kookosjuomaa (määrä riippuu siitä kuinka juoksevaa haluat smoothien olevan)

Kaikki ainekset blenderiin noin 10 sekunniksi. Kaada laseihin, juo saman tien tai pistä odottamaan jääkaappiin.

Blueberry Smoothie With Green Tea

Monday, June 12, 2017

I prepare a breakfast smoothie for almost every morning. I often make it ready on a day before. It's a healthy kick-start for any day. Usually I have coconut or soya milk as liquid, but this time I tried something different - I used green tea instead of milk.

~~~~
Mulla on tapana tehdä smoothie melkein joka aamiaiselle. Usein valmistan sen jo edellisenä iltana. Smoothie on terveellinen aloitus päivälle kuin päivälle. Tavallisesti käytän niissä nesteenä kookos- tai soijamaitoa, mutta tällä kertaa teinkin vähän erilaisemman smoothien ja käytin siinä maidon sijaan vihreää teetä.
Blueberry Smoothie With Green Tea
1/2 avocado
a bite of fresh ginger
a handful of green grapes (withour seeds!)
and another handful of blueberries
2 dl / cups jasmine green tea
Prepare the tea  in advance and let it cool. Mix all the ingredients in a blender until smooth. Drink it straight away or put in to fridge and enjoy it the next morning.
~~~~

Mustikka-vihreä tee smoothie

1/2 avokado
pala tuoretta inkivääriä
kourallinen vihreitä viinirypäleitä (ilman siemeniä!)
ja toinen kourallinen mustikoita
2dl vihreää teetä (jasmin-tee on oma suosikkini)

Valmista tee etukäteen niin ehtii jäähtyä kunnolla. Sekoita kaikki ainekset blenderissä kunnes seos on tasaista. Juo samantien tai pistä jääkaappiin odottamaan seuraavaa aamua.

Why To Have Blueberries In Your Smoothie?

Thursday, September 1, 2016

I have had busy mornings this week, but luckily there have still been time to make a smoothie. Actually I made already on Monday morning a whole jug of blueberry smoothie so it's been easy to grab a glass of smoothie straight from the fridge every morning.

There're still lot of blueberries for sale on the local market place , although I guess it's quite the end of the season. i like to buy them as long as they are available.

Why do I like to add blueberries in my smoothies?

First of all I love the taste of blueberries and secondly they are considered to be super food. This small dark blue berry has a lot of health benefits. It's a good source of vitamin K and vitamin C, manganese, copper and fibre.

Health facts of blueberries:
  • maintaining healthy bones
  • Lowering blood preasure
  • Managing diabetes
  • Warding off heart disease
  • Preventing cancer
  • Improving mental health
  • Healthy digestion
  • Weight loss
  • and this one is interesting: Fighting wrinkles!

I found these health benefits on Medical News Today.

Blueberry Smoothie For Breakfast

Sunday, July 17, 2016

Starting my week and Monday with a blueberry smoothie for breakfast. There're now so many different berries available at the local farmers' market at the moment that don't know which ones to pick up. Anyway, decided to go with blueberries today. They are real superfood.

Ingredients
Blueberries
Banana
Ginger
Chia seeds
Lucuma powder
Turmeric powder
Cinnamon powder
Coconut milk
Everything in a blender for a couple of seconds. Fast & easy.
I don't put any measures as I just pour everything straight from the package.

Just read an article which said that if you make just one change in your diet, it should be to add blueberries. Just 100g of blueberries contain the same amount of age-defying antioxidants as five servings other fruit. Antioxidants help protect from a range of cancer, heart desease, asthma, alzheimer's and ege-related neurological diseases.

Blueberries are high in vitamin C and a good sourse of fibre. They protect the heart in the same way as cholesterol-lowering drugs.

This superfood also makes us looking gorgeous as it contains polyphenols, which combat the effects of free radicals - a key cause of wrinkles - so they keep skin looking younger for longer. Blueberries also help body to make collagen, which keeps skin supple.

What are you having for breakfast?
