Friday Flowers

Friday, August 4, 2017

august

There're so many different hues of warm colours in August's flowers. Lots of orange, champagne, yellow... Pink is still there but in different tones than earlier in the summer. These are more fruity and berry-like ones.

My bedroom's colour palette is basically colourless - only black, white & grey, so a cheerful colour splash is warmly welcome.

Huge thanks to my friend Mihaela, who always surprises me with her fabulous bouquet-making talent.

How do you like my Friday flowers?

(FI) Elokuun kukista löytyy nyt niin monia lämpimiä sävyjä. On oranssia, sampanjaa, keltaista...

Good Night Sleep

Friday, May 12, 2017

We all need enough sleep to stay healthy and have energy to be able to do the tasks of every day life. Sometimes it may be difficult to fall asleep and the sleep can be restless. What to do to avoid this? Found an article with good tips and wanted to share it with you.

1. Stick to a sleep schedule
Try to go to bed at the same time every night. I really try to do this but not yet succeeded in it. Time just seems to flow so fast in the evenings!

2. Pay attention what you eat & drink
A heavy meal just before bedtime is a big no-no. It is said that caffeine is not a good choice i nthe evening, but I do drink black tea and diet coke when ever I feel like and it has never made me too unsleepy.

3. Create a restfull enviroment
This is what I find pretty important. First of all have a good bed and mattress. It makes a difference what material your bedlinen are. My favourite materials are soft linen and Egyptian cotton. Wrinkle linen feels so cosy!
I like to keep my bedroom interior simple and unclutter it time to time. Neutral tones are the best - for me that means white, gray, mud and black, and, of course, very pale pink.
A bunch of fresh cut flowers creates that extra fresh & cosy feeling.

4. Limit daytime naps
Of course, if you sleep too much it will disturb your night time sleep.

5. Include physical activity in your daily routine
This is something I have experience - when I do sports during the day, normally in the morning, I have more energy for the whole day and sleep much better too.

6. Manage worries
We all know how difficult this may be when you're having hrd time in your life, but it would help a lot if you could solve the issues before bedtime. Somtimes a small thing can become overly huge at night.

Bedroom Flowers

Wakey wakey!

What is the best colour for a bedroom? I think it's the colour that makes you feel comfortable and which you find calming and relaxing. My favourite colours are black & white, of course, and grey and pale pink. So I have chosen all of these for my bedroom as well.

As I like to keep it simple and as clutter free as possible, I don't have too many items laying around (well, sometimes I do have piles on the floor, on the chairs...).  There's no need for new furniture nor accessories, but to make it look & feel more comfortable, I have gone for amazing flower arrangements.

Flowers set the mood for the whole bedroom without breaking the bank. Take a good survey of your bedroom. Take into account the decor, colour schemes, natural light, and possible display surfaces.

Flowers have a strong healing energy of beauty and grace. According to Feng Shui tradition it's not only about colours, it's also about the number of flowers you want to add to your bedroom, about the balance. For creating the most sensual atmosphere in the bedroom is to go with delicate flowers without too powerful scent. Saying that I have here some hyaciths as I love their scent and don't personally find it too strong.

The main thing is to have a great sleep and a stunning visual appearance.

This beautiful bouquet in pale pastels was creatd by Mihaela at flowerMe.

Kukat tuovat tunnelmallisuutta koko tilaan suhteellien edullisesti. Tarkastele makuuhuonettasi, ota huomioon sisustus, väripaletti, luonnonvalo sekä alusta jolle laittaisit asetelman.

Kukissa on paljon parantavaa energiaa.

Tämän kauniin pastellin sävyisen kimpun on sitonut flowerMe'n taitava Mihaela.

What About Dark Blue Accents?

Wednesday, June 22, 2016

This is now the third and last of the three bedrooms for a student flat. The first one was with yellow, second with dark green and this last one with dark blue accents. Otherwise all of them are pretty simialr to each other.

Everything is kept very simple & basic so the new tenants can all bring their personal belongings with them and easily adjust the room for their own taste with pictures etc.

You can find the yellow room here and the green room here.

Dark Green Accents For Student Home

Sunday, June 19, 2016

A couple of days ago I already showed one room of this 3 bedroom flat for students. The one I introduced was with yellow accents, this one - the second bedroom - is with dark green accents. Otherwise the colour palette is similar; white walls, ligth beige upholstery & curtainsand a grey armchair.

All of these 3 rooms have a double bed, adjustable desk, office chair and big wardrobe with mirrored sliding doors.

You can find the yellow one here.

PS. All the cushions and bedlinens are from HM Home.

Pastels For Bedroom

Thursday, June 9, 2016

This is the master bedroom of the flat, which kids' room I introduced a bit earlier. Nice 2-bedroom apartment in a new building by the Danube. There are no built-in wardrobes, so storage place was obviously needed for this family with two children. After fitting two full-size wardrobes there wasn't much space left for anything else than a bed. As a matter of fact nothing else was needed there. The mirror doors of the wardrobe create a spacious feeling.

Kept the colour palette light and matching with the whole home. Lots of white, hint of grey and turquoise & pink pastels to give some colour. If the lady of the house gets bored with those pastels she can easily change the atmosphere by replacing a couple of cushion covers in her new favourite colour.

The shelving system reminds of the classic String, but the old shelves and brackets were found of her parents' garage. It's so fantastic when you can reuse old pieces especially those with full of history. She remembers those shelves from her childhood.

Originally planned to place some pictures on the wall behind the bed, but then decided to leave it empty and she can fill it later with her own favourite paintings - she likes to paint.

You can find the kids' room of this home here!

A Sneak Peek To A Bedroom

Tuesday, May 17, 2016

Here's sneak peek to another project of mine. This is a city flat in the middle of Budapest in an old building. Just made the final touches to this bedroom. The aim was to make it functional, fresh and simple as it's meant to be rent out furbished, so it's not just staged. The bedroom is made with some old existing pieces, which were freshened up and also with some new items. The owners wanted to have some colours there, and as there were already some red textiles such as the bedspread and small lamps with red-blue shades decided to go on with those colours.

There will be coming more photos of the flat soon!

Small Bedroom

Thursday, April 14, 2016

This small bedroom had an iron-wrought bed and shiny orange walls, which were actually handpainted with a special (and expensive) technique. It was not possible to re-paint the walls nor to put there any wallpaper. Instead used simple, thin basic white panels by Halltex to hide the plastic looking and overwhelming (restless) effect of the walls.

The owner had already bought a dark Ikea Malm bed and 2 high chest of drawers beside the bed. There's storage place under the bed, which is a great idea for a small bedroom. To keep the bedroom fresh and airy added white curtains and white linen duvet cover. The owner has a loads of photos, posters and souvenirs, which he wanted to put on display, and anyway those are the pieces that makes a place home.

The colours of the posters give nice warm look and feeling.

Here are some tips to keep in mind when furnishing a small bedroom:

  • Light colours enhance the feeling of space, while darker hues tend to close in. Lighten up tour walls and furnishings.
  • ditch the king size (or evven queen) bed and use space-saving furniture. If storage space is an issue, under-bed storage containers can free up a lot of space.
  • Visually expand the room by using mirrors.

Still kept the warm tone - at least slightly!
