The owner had already bought a dark Ikea Malm bed and 2 high chest of drawers beside the bed. There's storage place under the bed, which is a great idea for a small bedroom. To keep the bedroom fresh and airy added white curtains and white linen duvet cover. The owner has a loads of photos, posters and souvenirs, which he wanted to put on display, and anyway those are the pieces that makes a place home.
The colours of the posters give nice warm look and feeling.
Here are some tips to keep in mind when furnishing a small bedroom:
- Light colours enhance the feeling of space, while darker hues tend to close in. Lighten up tour walls and furnishings.
- ditch the king size (or evven queen) bed and use space-saving furniture. If storage space is an issue, under-bed storage containers can free up a lot of space.
- Visually expand the room by using mirrors.
PS. This was the starting point:
Still kept the warm tone - at least slightly!
I love what you have done with that room! You are very talented. I am not a fan of bright colors in my bedroom, but the accent color works perfect with the more mellow black and white. Nicely done!

Thank you so much! Client picked up the posters and I took the accent colour from them.
DeleteWow, the room really opened up with those lighter colors. I really like the warm accents!
ReplyDeleteGood! Wanted to make it brighter yet having warmer hues.
DeleteWhat a total change! The room brightens and opens up with those gold accents. Can you come redesign my room? :)
ReplyDeleteJust send me some pics and I'll tell you what to do :D
DeleteThat's a huge improvement from the starting point, seriously. I love the colors that you picked for the bedroom as well, it looks larger and easier on the eyes too!
ReplyDeleteThnak you! These're not so typical bedroom tones but the client wanted to have a dark bed and bedside drawers, so went with those.
DeleteShould I say total transformation or perfect transformation? Perfect I say. Good job and surely the room looks bigger than small.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much! With the right colours you can make wonders :D
DeleteMirrors are always a good (in my opinion the best) solution for small spaces. I like playing with them and with small lights too.
ReplyDeleteWith mirrors you can change the feeling of a room. At hoem I have a huge mirror also in my kitchen.
DeleteThe wall colour makes it look like a proper Mediterranean home. I love the decor x
ReplyDeleteHere people love this sort of burnt orange as it gives a Mditerranean feeling but I feel it's a bit too much and any way in this case the aim was to get a bit of Nordic vibes to the room :D
DeleteWOW ... you really gave your room quite a makeover! It looks perfect. I love those blends of colors!
