People & Flowers Project

Thursday, June 8, 2017

People & Flowers project with Mihaela at flowerMe has started! Here's a little sneak peek of our project. We are capturing the reactions of random people when offering them a flower and collecting stories of their relations & memories of flowers. Already so many fascinating and sweet stories from interesting people.

Olemme flowerMe'n Mihaelan kanssa polkaisseet käyntiin People & Flowers -projektin!

Stay tune to find out more!

Home-Staging Project

Sunday, April 2, 2017

Home-staging is the first step to do when you start selling your house or apartment. The goal is to make your home looking neutral and attract as many potential home-buyers as possible.

The keywords are uncluttering and packing. The space should look clean and fresh, and not too personal. That doesn't mean that cold and empty rooms. There should absolutely be pieces of furniture to create cosy atmosphere and show what can be fitted there.

In this apartment I changed the functions of some of the rooms, packed a lot of items to store, brought some pieces of furniture, paintings and pictures, textiles and decorative items.

One absolutely gorgeous way to create some cosiness are fresh flowers and herbs.

It's good to keep in mind that you are not selling your home but a space which a potential buyer will see as their own home.

Ovat ehdottomasti piste i:n päällä.

On hyvä pitää mielessä, että kyseessä ei oel oman kodin myynti vaan asunnon, josta voi tulla potentiaalisen ostajan koti.

What About Dark Blue Accents?

Wednesday, June 22, 2016

This is now the third and last of the three bedrooms for a student flat. The first one was with yellow, second with dark green and this last one with dark blue accents. Otherwise all of them are pretty simialr to each other.

Everything is kept very simple & basic so the new tenants can all bring their personal belongings with them and easily adjust the room for their own taste with pictures etc.

You can find the yellow room here and the green room here.

All the cushions and bedlinens are from HM Home

Dark Green Accents For Student Home

Sunday, June 19, 2016

A couple of days ago I already showed one room of this 3 bedroom flat for students. The one I introduced was with yellow accents, this one - the second bedroom - is with dark green accents. Otherwise the colour palette is similar; white walls, ligth beige upholstery & curtainsand a grey armchair.

All of these 3 rooms have a double bed, adjustable desk, office chair and big wardrobe with mirrored sliding doors.

You can find the yellow one here.

PS. All the cushions and bedlinens are from HM Home.

Light & Bright Dining Corner

Thursday, June 16, 2016

Here're a couple of pictures of the kitchen and dining corner of the home which I have introduced earlier herehere and here. The kitchen was decided to leave the way it was, and then later when they've been living there for some time to reconsider if a reno should be done. In this home only the walls were repainted.

As there was a small nook for a dining area, decided to use it as it was meant to. The kitchen cabinets have a dark-ish mud colour, so it was quite clear to use all-white there, meaning that the dining table and chairs are white as well as a storage unit and a pendant lamp above the table.

Colourful drawings and paintings as well as tableware make the corner cosy and playful.

There're two balconies - one facing the river and the other one facing the garden between houses. Outdoors the colour palette is almost the same as inside - shades of blue and a hint of yellow.

PS. the round table is from Ikea and the chairs from Vakum Design.

Flowers In My Kitchen

Wednesday, June 15, 2016

I mentioned earlier about the co-operation with flowerMe. Here're some speak peeks how it continues. This time she made a gorgeous bouquet into my fruit bowl. All the flowers are very natural and organic.

This bouquet is only for staging, but for a one that needs to stay beautiful and fresh for a longer time, you need to fill the inside of the bowl with a large enough flower oasis. At least one hour prior to making the arrangement, soak the oasis in water with deluted floral fluid.

She is a true professional, isn't she?

Sorry about my messy kitchen!

I know there're too many similar pics but I just couldn't choose one or two!

You can find here the previous flower bouquet Mihaela from flowerMe made at my place.

That Light Blue Armchair

Tuesday, June 14, 2016

She wanted to have a bright & functional living area, which would be suitable for children to play and for her to read and watch TV. There're plenty of windows so the light is coming nicely in. Brightness and simplicity are the key words in this home.

The starting point was the existing pieces of furniture - light blue armchair and floor lamp. During the project she found old pieces of a book shelf in her parents' garage. As the whole shelving system was light-looking, had a connection to her with its history and it  was a kind of look-alike of the Swedish Sring shelving - it was an easy decicion to bring it in. The metal support parts just needed a new layer of white paint. The plywood shelves we left as they were - all a bit diffent natural shade which gives a sort of character to the whole system.

Space is sometimes a luxury, and when you don't have much of it, you are tasked with figuring out ways to make it work. It's important to reach the full potential of a living room and of the whole home.

My basic idea in home decor is that there should always be some crispy white and a hint of black to sharpen the space. Then you can add any colour(s) you like, and the result will look fresh. This room is a good example of that.

ps. You can find the bedroom of this home here and the kids' room here

BTW, the rug is from Ikea, the small coffee tables from Vakum Design as well as the couch, cushions from HM Home and the small bottles from Kika.
