Kitchen & Dining

Monday, July 4, 2016

This is now the final posting of the student flat with three bedrooms which you can btw find here, here & here. The common area of the flat is one big space with a fully equipped kitchen, dining and living area. There will be a TV and some poufs, but as it is already rented out there's no time to take more pics.

The whole flat is kept very basic and simple so the tenants can make it cosy with their own items and customize it as they like. There are plenty of storage space in the flat; built-in cupboards  next to the entrance and a storage room. The chairs were painted all in different colours and some cushions as well as throws and blankets were added there. Otherwise the tones are super neutrals.

One of the pics you can find a peek of the corridor's Treescape wallpaper which is from Wallpaperdirect. You can see it here as well.

There's another rental still available in Budapest - click here to see it!

Flowers In My Kitchen

Wednesday, June 15, 2016

I mentioned earlier about the co-operation with flowerMe. Here're some speak peeks how it continues. This time she made a gorgeous bouquet into my fruit bowl. All the flowers are very natural and organic.

This bouquet is only for staging, but for a one that needs to stay beautiful and fresh for a longer time, you need to fill the inside of the bowl with a large enough flower oasis. At least one hour prior to making the arrangement, soak the oasis in water with deluted floral fluid.

She is a true professional, isn't she?

Sorry about my messy kitchen!

I know there're too many similar pics but I just couldn't choose one or two!

You can find here the previous flower bouquet Mihaela from flowerMe made at my place.

Origo

Wednesday, March 11, 2015

Iittala's Origo is now available also in kitchen towels. The striped pattern is designed by Alfredo Häberli. The towels give a nice colourful accent to my otherwise very black & white kitchen. They are 100% linen. At the moment they are so beautiful and crispy - I'm afraid to ruin them or at least make them wrinkled...

You can buy them straight from Iittala's webshop here!

Sneak Peak To Joe's Kitchen (project part 5/7)

Thursday, January 22, 2015

The biggest make-over happened in the kitchen area. The goal was to make it look and feel like cosy mama's kitchen. Well, the result wasn't exactly like mama's kitchen but more like a surfer guy's ultimate cooking corner, or what do you think?

Before

Picked up some tile samples for the backsplash, but the awesome & rather extreme (and most expensive!) surfer tiles hit the jackpot.

In the box there're 2 different variations of this 8-piece tile.

Mood boards for kitchen accessories:

On the shopping list were also these:

Let's put the backsplash tiles!

Ready! And the wall is painted too. The color is Flügger's coffee brown. First had an idea to paint it black, but somehow it felt too strong or something, so chose a little softer tone.

Oh well,...so this was before...

And this is after. A new sink was not on the list but it wasn't possible to place the tap on the old one as the tap was pretty heavy. Had to find one without any tap hole on it. Tap was placed on the counter top so it's now more stable.

New led lights under the cabinets.

The neon sign is a custom made piece. It is completely red but my camera could only see it this way... It took some time to find a company which could deliver a sign with this size, with this font and colour. There are only five persons in Hungary who can blow these kinds of glass tubes. Were lucky to find one of them quite near Budapest.

I think the neon sign is quite a statement piece.

There was no table in the kitchen so designed a bar table there and added 4 poeces of bar chairs as well. The table with wooden top and metal legs was made by a carpenter, but the surface didn't look exactly how I had planned it, so waxed it in dark brown and it looked perfect.
The same carpenter made also a cupboard around the old fridge, and now there's place for some cleaning stuff as well.

The kitchen has a totally new look without changing the cabinets or countertop.
Talked to Joe the other day and he seemed to be very pleased with his new kitchen, and rest of the home as well.

1. part of the project: entrance
2. part of the project: restroom
3. part of the project: bedroom
4 part of the project: living area

Dried Or Fresh?

Saturday, November 29, 2014

I'm not a fan of dried flowers. I saw a colourful bunch of those flowers which are usually dried, but these ones were still fresh! Cheers up otherwise not-so-colourful corner of the kitchen.

Tea Towels In Black & White

Sunday, August 4, 2013

Sometimes it's nice to freshen up home with small things like new tea towels. Black & white is my favorite combo also in the kitchen.

A little bit of colour is never a bad idea.

 Manhattan on my mind...
... just couldn't resist, and found also matching paper napkins!

The Swedish know how to cheer up the every day life with trendy yet timeless pieces. Bought the first tea towels at Hemtex and the lower ones at HM Home.
