Koivu Necklace by Mari Syrén

 Here's another necklace designed by Mari Syrén. This one is with turquise glass beads and silver leaves of birch. That's where its name comes from - birch in Finnish is called "koivu".

A Finnish jewelry designer Mari Syrén has a fabulous collection of necklaces, pendants, bracelets, rings & ear rings. Took some pictures of them. Starting here with silver "Levy" (="Disc") necklace from her men's collection.

Outside The Tiffany Blue Box

Every season has its own flavour. I like to update my daily jewelry according to the season, and, of course, to the feeling as well. My daily picks have recently been - Gucci watch, Tiffany heart tag choker "Return to Tiffany", earrings by Thomas Sabo & Zarro - all in silver.

And here we go again!

Mashka - Made In San Francisco

How do you like my new necklace? It's made of stones & crystals. Love the shades of it - crispy white, sharp black, earthy grey and lucid clear stones with silver chain. Goes with anything! It's hand-made by a small American jewelry brand called Mashka in San Francisco.

Beading

I made it myself! 

I know these look more like a child had made them, but I'm so proud I finally could do something like these. For years I've been collecting different kinds of bead all over the world, but not yet succeeded to make anything out of them since now. Have to admit I needed to take some classes to learn how to make them step by step. "Intro to beading" was absolutely useful for me!

It's not just the beads you need, a variety of different tools is essential.

 Pliers for wire looping. Round nose & flat nose pliers.

 Pliers for crimping and cutters for wire cutting.

 Beading board is a great help.

 Findings: caps, cones, crimps, clasps, crimp tubes, cord ends... the list is endless.

 Glass beads.

 Time to start beading...

Design-wise far from perfect. But the idea was to learn the technique and after that I can concentrate the designs.

So beware, probably everyone I know will get one self-made piece of jewelry for present for xmas, birthday...
