What to do in Malaga on a rainy day

Malaga is such a lovely city that even on a rainy day there're plenty of things to do and places to visit.  Of course, it is nicer to walk around with dry shoes but you just can't choose the weather, can you? Anyways, I want share here some tips for you based on my own experiences and to recommendations. 

The fact is that in one day you can't do everything, but pick up the things you find most interesting and appealing for you. February 28th was the Day of Andalucia and the shops were closed, so I skip the shopping opportunities and concentrate on cultural things.

1. Malaga Cathedral 

To see a city above is always fascinating and gives another perspective of any place. One of the best ways to enjoy the panoramic views of Malaga is to climb up to the roortop terrace of Malaga Cathedral. You can buy the ticket to visit both the cathedral inside and/or visit the rooftop. Note that you can't just climb up the 200 steps whenever you want but there're guided tours available every 30 mins. So the waiting time is not too long.

The Malaga Cathedral is 87m tall, which makes it the tallest one in Andalucia. The staircase up to the rooftop terrace is pretty narrow, so I was a bit concern as I'm claustrophobic and 200 steps is quite a lot, but fortunately it was not too bad even for me.

2. Picasso Museum

After seeing the splendid panoramic views of the city, we headed towards Picasso Museum. It is also located in the Old Town of Malaga. There are signs which lead you to the museum but for a person as disoriented as me, it can be a bit complicated find the right way amoung those narrow streets.

The Picasso Museum was opened in 2003. There are the permanent collection of 285 art works by Pablo Picasso and temporary exhibitions - curently on From Russia to France - A Journey through Olga Picasso's life (1881-1955).

3. Carmen Thyssen Museum

Not far away from Picasso Museum there's a fantastic art museum called Carmen Thyssen. There you can find art works of Andalusian artists mainly from 19th century. Really fascinating pieces which give a good sneakpeek to the life of that era.

There are also temporary exhibitions, currently on Modern & seductive 1900-1936. A bit like Art Deco posters.

4. Centre Pompidou

I guess two art museums a day is quite enough, but if you are still hungry for cultural experiences pop into the Centre Pompidou. It is located by the sea on the way to the beach. You can't miss that huge colourful glass box! Centre Pompidou is a sister to the one in Paris - a real cultural centre. You can find there not just exhibitions, but music, films, plays and interactive & educational programs for children.

3.Carmen Thyssen museo, jossa keskitytty andalusialaiseen maalaustaiteeseen. Vanhemmat maalaukset antavat hyvän ajankuvan sen aikaisesta elämästä.

4. Pompidou-keskus on samantapainen kulttuurikeskus kuin Pariisissa. Esillä on erilaisia taidemuotoja maalauksista, interaktiiviseen taiteeseen.
