Seaside Blues

Thursday, February 12, 2015

it looks pretty grey at the moment but summer will be here soon... that's what I want to believe... Meanwhile I checked Zara Home's collection which is full of lovely ocean blue items.

Tällä hetkellä ulkona näyttää ikävän harmaalta, mutta ihan kohta kesä on täällä...ainakin haluan uskoa niin... Kesää odotellessa selailin Zara Homen uutta tarjontaa, joka on täynnä ihastuttavaa meren sinistä.

Are you already dreaming of summer?

Haaveiletko jo kesästä?

Happy By The Ocean

Friday, March 8, 2013

Why the beach makes us happy?
It's almost universal.
Just being by the sea puts us in a more
blissfull state of mind.

The blue colour has been shown to produce
feelings of security and relaxation,
and researchers have discover that blood pressure
and stress levels drop when people
watch fish swimming in aquariums.
Enjoying the waves of the ocean.
Ocean gives a perfect background for beautiful photos.
A relaxed and memorable wedding day by the ocean.

I just love the ocean and have even brought it inside.
Scented oil "Ocean" on my nightstand
gives a fresh ocean breeze around the room.

(There was an article of this in the February issue of
Coastal Living and how it's a scientifically proven fact that ocean makes people happy)

Sunny Sunday At The Sea

Sunday, February 27, 2011

Had a great Sunday at the sea!
.
Need a good map and some navigation skills - the waters are occasionally very shallow.
.
Planned to go to Little Harbour, but the sea got pretty rough as it was blowing from the Atlantic so made a u-turn...
.
...back in the calm waters.
.
Stopped at Abaco Beach Resort near Marsh Harbour for drinks.
.
The harbour at Abaco Beach Resort - our small boat on the left.
.
Came to Hope Town by boat for lunch.
.
Lunch at Hope Town Harbour Lodge.
.
Harbour Lodge has a nice beachto the Atlantic Ocean side.
.
There's also a nice swimming pool if one finds the ocean too cold.
.
Beef burger with cheese, fries, mac'n cheese
- NOT!
.
1/2 dozen conch fritters swith cole slaw
- YES!
.
Lunch is over - back to the sea!
.
Anchored the boat for sun-bathing & enjoying the views - some active people around went water-skiing.

Baker's Bay

Saturday, February 26, 2011

On Saturday continued by boat to Baker's Bay in Great Guana Cay.
.
Baker's Bay is a 3 mile long bay on the island of Great Guana Cay. It is the location of the Baker's Bay Golf & Ocean Club,as well as the controversy surrounding it. Baker's Bay is a clear and aqua sea grass bed in the Sea of Abaco, and was a favorite destination of Abaco boaters for years. Dredging for a Disney cruise destination caused considerable environmental damage to the corals in the area,
as corals are unable to withstand continuous silting. In 2004, Baker's Bay Golf & Ocean Club
began a megadevelopment project, which is largely believed by conservation groups to have destroyed the area. Well, the place is certainly man-made, not a natural looking area!
.
Starving! So went to have lunch

Roasted tomato gaspachowith johnny cake - excellent for a hot day like this! Nice & spicy!
.
After lunch had a tour around the area by foot, not by golf cart like the others seemed to be doing.
.
Perfectly cutted lawns.
.
Stylish swimmimg pool
- 3 treadmills on the back in the shadows, just in case somebody feels like running, but not in the sun along the real roads like i would prefer to do.
.
Residental area
.
Different types of houses, something for everyone...
.
Quite many apartments are still for sale.
.
"April Fool" - nice yact! Probably owned by Bill Gates...
.
Left Baker's Bay behind and went back to HopeTown.
Burning in Hope Town??? No, just the fire brigade driving around, not really around as there's only one road to drive...
.
Caramelisious.
Actually had skipped the daily dose for a couple of days until now,
the waitress got worried what had happened...
.
On the way back to White Sound and home.
.
Hope Town is so picturesque!
.
Kimi Räikkönen arriving to Hope Town?
.
Hope Town
.
Romantic gazebo
.
Going home before the sun sets down.
.
Dinner after the "hard" day at sea - bbq pork with avocado mousse & salad - great!
.

Treasure Cay

Some clouds in the sky but otherwise the weather is more than gorgeous.

Perfect weather to go to the sea by boat - oops, need a pedicure!

Decided to go to Treasure Cay, it's towards north from Elbow Cay.
.

Arriving to Treasure Cay
.
- some of the best and most photographed beaches
in all of The Bahamas

- The Abacos' 2nd largest mainland settlement, not an island as its name would imply.

Originally named as a result of a fleet of more than 15 Spanish treasure galleons that sank off its shores in the late 1500's,

Treasure Cay is The Abacos' largest example of organized or "master planned" land and community development.
.
Oh, what a beach! - pic taken from Coco Beach Bar.
.
Would it be possible to get tired of this kind of view?
- would be nice to know...
.
The beach is continuing & continuing...
.
Walked all the way up to the west point and back.
.
It's just so gorgeous!
.
Snapped plenty of pics of the beach while walking along it.
.
Little birdie!
.
Lots of second home owners in the cay.
.
Neat & well-planned area.
