Art Basel Miami

Thursday, November 26, 2015

No, I'm not in Miami at the moment and won't be there next week either when once again Art Basel kicks off there. Just wanted to remind you about this event if you happened to be somewhere nearby the city.

Art Basel is the biggest art event of the year with a handful of can't-miss events featuring some of the most thought-provoking, edgy artists exhibiting alongside the most relevant pop culture acts.

Never been counting how many times I've been in Miami. It has changed a lot over the years. I even worked there for a while. Not a bad place to be :) It's always fascinating to stroll along the streets of SoBe and see all those Art Deco buildings. Nowadays Wynwood is the district for art and design, but I remember the times when it was not recommended to visit there at all.

Here'a a couple of Miami snapshots over the years...

Yes, I did go to LV and bought the limited edition scarf by RETNA in Wynwood...

And the sun is setting down...

Art Quarter Budapest

Monday, September 7, 2015

Got an invitation to Art Quarter Budapest for last Friday. It's a meeting point for international and local artista. The building is pretty huge and there's artist-in-residence programme, which means that an artist can work and live there as well. On Friday there was an opening party of the new exhibition.

Perfect place for art!
Love the old worn out beams & rustic details of the ceiling.

1222 Budapest, Nagytétényi út 48-50.

You can get there by tram#47 from city center. There's a app. 10mins walk from the end station. On that way you pass the wine cellars of Budafok...

The Phantom of The Opera

Phantom of the opera - or is it just me?
Experimenting motion with my camera in the front of the Opera House in Budapest.

Btw, the opening night of The Phantom of The Opera at the Finnish National Opera was yesterday on Friday September 4th 2015.

7am In My Neighbourhood

Monday, August 31, 2015

Somehow 26C feels fresh & cool in the morning at 7am - especially  when the temperature rises to 38C during the day... I wanted to enjoy these last days of summer heat and went for a small walk with my camera in my neighbourhood this morning.

It was interesting to see how some streets were still very quiet, some rather busy. People on their way to work, reading a newspaper...

I wish these days would last a bit longer!

Photos of Lake Balaton

Thursday, August 27, 2015

To put all the right apertures, shutter speeds and ISO values is not an easy task - at last not for me. And after that comes image processing...Should I add more light or shadows, increase saturation or not etc etc? Then there's this totally different world of Photoshopping...
Well, I'm not quite there yet!

How to capture that right moment? How to tranfer that fabulous atmosphere into a pic? Those are some of the questions I'm straggeling with.

Doors Of Budapest

Wednesday, August 26, 2015

Old, rustic, wornout, beautiful, ugly, colourful, detailed, decorative...
If you walk along the streets of Budapest you can't miss the entrance doors of the old buildings. Even though most of them would definitely need to be renovated, you can pick up those gorgeous wrought iron gates and window grills which represent the different eras like Romanticism, Neo-Classicism, Secession, Art Deco, Bauhaus...

These are just random snapshots of some of the doors of 6th & 7th district, which I took during my Sunday walk.

I will continue this project district by district, perhaps street by street!

Anttolanhovi Wellness Village

Sunday, August 23, 2015

I was invited to summer's most fabulous party at Anttolanhovi Wellness Village near Mikkeli in Finland earlier this summer. What a lovely, perfectly organized party and what a gorgeous place by a Finnish lake! Enjoyed every minute there - fantastic company, delicious food, nice activities, and still had time for jogging & swimming.

Here're some pics of our design villa by lake. There're also a hotel  with spa & swimming pool, and design hillside villas. Our main dinner was served at Kota restaurant, which was perfect for 50-60 persons.

A perfect place for an active holiday!
