Moodboard For A Black & White Guest Room

I don't have a guest room nor a proper place for home office - I use my dining room as an office. But if I had a guest room & home office combo, here's one option how it might look.

Black & white is always a safe choice as you can add any colour to it and change it easily when you get tired of it. Here I created some jungle feeling by bringing cushions and pictures with green leave patterns.

Glass or acrylic table and desk top are pretty matching and keep the space airy. I don't actually know why I chose a black leather couch... perhaps because it's a practical choice - easy to take care and looks good for a long time.

This moodboard basically shows the atmosphere not so much the functionality.

What you should consider when making a multipurpose guest room?

1. Bed
Perhaps a sofa-bed is a better option than a normal bed

2. Storage
Cupboards, drawers for your guesst to empty their suitcases or maybe some extra space to store your own stuff - clothes, bedlinen, towels, blankets, pillows, duvets, books...

3. Lighting
Nothing disturbs more than non-functional lighting. Have a pendant lamp, floor lamp, reading light - there can never be too much light.

With these 3 guest room tips in mind it's good to start good your planning.

(FI) Kodistani puuttuu vierashuone sekä kotitoimisto. Ruokahuone on toiminut työtilana tähän asti ja varmasti myös jatkossakin. Mutta jos mulla olisi vieras/työhuoneyhdistelmä, tässä vaihtoehto miltä se saattaisi näyttää.

Musta-valkokombo on aina varma valinta. Siihen voi lisätä minkä tahansa värin ja vaihtaminen käy helposti jos ja kun väriin kyllästyy. Loin tähän moodboardiin viidakkomeininkiä vihreillä lehtikuviollisilla tyynyillä ja kuvilla. 

Lasi- tai kirkas akryylipöytä sopivat kivasti yhteen ja pitävät tilan ilmavana. En oikein tiedä miksi valitsin mustan nahkasohvan... ehkä sen käytännöllisyyden vuopksi - se on helppo pitää puhtaana ja säilyy hyvännäköisenä pitkään.

Tästä moodboardista näkee lähinnä huoneen tunnelman eikä niinkään sen toimivuutta.

(FI) Mitä pitäisi ottaa huomioon monikäytöisen vierashuoneen suunnittelussa?

1. Sänky
Ehkä vuodesohva on tavallista sänlyä toimivampi ratkaisu.

2. Säilytys
Tarvitaan kaappeja sekä laatikostoja jonne vieraat voivat tyhjentää matkalaukkunsa ja/tai ylimääräistä säilytystilaa omille tavaroillesi kuten vaatteille, pyyhkeille, liinavaatteille, tyynyille, peitteille, täkeille, kirjoille...

3. Valaistus
Mikään ei ole häiritsevämpää kuin huono valaistus. Tarvitaan kattovalasiin, jalkavalaisin, lukuvalaisin... koskaan ei voi olla liikaa valoa.

Näillä kolmella vinkillä on hyvä aloittaa vierashuoneen suunnittelu.

A Splash Of Colour: Coral

When walls & most pieces of furniture are white, black or grey it's easy to add a splash of colour according to your mood. I'm now into coral atthe moment as found these branches with full of delicate small flowers at my local market.

B&W Snapshots of Miskolc

Had a chance to visit Miskolc last week. It's the Tampere, Manchester... what ever of Hungary - an industrial city in the northeast of the country. With the population of app. 160.000 inhabitants it is the third largest city in Hungary. 

Here're some black & white snapshots that took there.

Only 30km from Miskolcs tehre's a village called Encs - more about it tomorrow!

A Danish Tiger

I'm so fond of stationary, black & white combo and stripes that when I found these cute pegs and practical notebooks I became extremely happy :)One can never have too many notebooks!

"Tiger is a place you go to explore, a place where it is fun to shop." That's so true!

Tiger's products are own-branded, simple and colorful, with a Scandinavian touch. It's a Danish retail concept with sips all over Europe and in Japan.
