Nassau

Tuesday, February 12, 2013

Approaching Nassau in the morning.
Nassau's main street, Bay Street, is full of high-end stores and boutiques. Jewellery, watches, cosmetics, bags....
I did buy something starting with G...
Local policemen.
The town of Nassau.
Shells of queen conch.

This is how conch looks on the plate.
Conch fritters are my favourites!
Had them for lunch in Nassau.

Atlantis on Paradise Island.
Been there once so skipped going there this time.
Still in use?
Norwegian Sky looks pretty small beside Oasis of the Seas...
There were 5 cruise ships at Nassau port at the same time,
which makes over 10.000 guests on the streets of the town.
Mick Jagger's???
Dinner at French restaurant Le Bistro.
Menu:
Asparagus with orange hollandaise and mushrooms
Lobster in butter sauce with artichoke and potato
Vanilla creme brûlée
Wine:
Pouilly Fuisse
Beautiful Versace plates!

Towel art in the stateroom.
Cute bunny & penguin.

On Monday morning after breakfast it was time to say goodbye
to Norwegian Sky and go back to sunny South Beach.

Great Stirrup Cay

Morning view: just the ocean.
Sunrise at 6.30.
Perfect start to the day.
Several options for having breakfast onboard.
Our choice was Crossing on deck 5,
as I prefer to be seated and served to the table rather than queueing for a buffet.

Tender boats were used to transport guests to & from shore
as the port of Great Stirrup Cay is not big enough
for a cruise ship.

A day on Great Stirrup Cay.
It's a 250-acre private island which Norwegian Cruise Line
bought in 1977.
There was plenty of time to enjoy the white sandy beaches,
the ship set sail at 5pm.

Took the tender back to the ship earlier to have a lunch onboard.
There's a buffet at Great Outdoor Cafe on deck 11.
At 4pm it was time to have a pedicure at Mandara Spa.
Very relaxing!
Dinner at Cagney's Steakhouse.
Menu:
Crab cakes with avocado
Fillet mignon with lobster tail and baked potato
Raspberry creme brûlée
Chateau Ste Michelle Cabernet Sauvignon, Columbia Valley, Washington
Fantastic!

Cruise Like Norwegian

Monday, February 11, 2013

Decided to go for a short cruise last weekend.
Booked the tickets just couple of days before the embarkation.
Got a nice deal for Norwegian Sky leaving
from Miami on Friday evening,
going to Stirrup Cay and Nassau in the Bahamas
and coming back to Miami on Monday morning.
Views from the ship in Miami.

 Dark clouds covering the sky.

 A thundering rain shower.
The rain didn't last long. It stopped before departure.
The ship was supposed to leave at 5pm,
but there was a group of 40 persons flying from Toronto
and as the weather up there was pretty snowy their plane was late
and the Swedish captain was kind enough to wait for them.
 Our cabin 8079.
Some pics of the interior of Norwegian Sky.

Booked a table at Italian restaurant Il Adagio.
Menu:
Bruschetta with anchovy
Half portion of asparagus & shrimp risotto
Grilled shrimps with vegetable rice
All with house wine which was Chardonnay.

The food was much better than had expected!

Good night Miami!
On Saturday it will be a day on Stirrup Cay.
