Must-haves

Monday, September 7, 2009

Noticed that this spring's must-haves in New York
were flip-flops
- everyone was wearing them!
The "thing" in Paris were boots in June!
In Italy everyone had a Louis Vuitton bag,
especially monogram Speedy!
.
Speedy is on my list, too,
but in Epi leather black

Shoes?

Saturday, September 5, 2009

No-one seems to be interested in
if did any shopping in Italy,
and especially in Milan
- so maybe better not to mention about it
.
Anyway, here're some shoe boxes from the journey:

- not for me!
.

Pizza in Milano

Forgot to mention that ate also a pizza in Milan!
And a plate of meat as a starter
.

Pizza with shrimps & crab meat
- good!
.
Had the pizza quite early,
but later the place was packed with Italians
- nice small place in the center of Milan, on a quiet street

Milan

Saturday, August 29, 2009

Milan is not for sight-seeing...
but for serious shopping...
of course, there's Duomo
- extremely impressive
and beautiful, huge arcade
Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II
with shops and restaurants
.
Milan is for shopping,
heavy shopping.
All the shops are located in the same area,
next to each other
between Via della Spiga & Piazza Duomo
- very compact!

Had a break at La Rinascente
department store
on 7th floor
.
A glass of prosecco with a fish plate
- tuna, salmon & swordfish
- artichoke
and a cheese plate
- excellent choice!
.
All the shops were well air-conditioned
- the weather outside was really hot
.

Funny Fiats on Via Montenapoleone
.
La Rinascente
Piazza Duomo,
Via Santa Radegonda, 3
.
On Via della Spiga for example:
Prada, Miu Miu, Hermess, Tod's, Just Cavalli, Roberto Cavalli,
Dolce & Gabbana, Juicy Couture, Bulgari, Tiffany & Co,
Giorgio Armani, Sportmax...
On Via Montenapoleone:
Louis Vuitton, La Perla, Armani, Prada, Emilio Pucci,
Gucci, Bottega Veneta, Etro, Dior, Versace, Hogan,
Valentino, Loro Piana...
.
By the way,
at the breakfast there were some British people
who had come to Milan
for Oasis concert
- the waiter told that Oasis had made a reservation
for 10 rooms in the hotel
but cancelled all of them yesterday
- tomorrow's concert in Milan was also called off,
because the Callagher brothers decided
to go on different ways
- sad for the fans!
& pretty childish behaviour
.

Ristorante Papa Francesco

Friday dinner at Ristorante Papa Francesco
- didn't feel like going to a fancy restaurant,
just picked up one near Piazza della Scala
.
Smoked tuns with green salad
.
Tortelloni with 3 kinds of filling:
meat, cheese & pumkin
- big portion!
.
Chocolate parfait with nuts for dessert
.
Rating: 3/5
- good, average food
- nice service
.

Via Marino, 7

.

There was a concert at Piazza Duomo
. unfortunately didn't know who was performing!
.

Carlton Hotel Baglioni

August is a good time to go to Milan,
the hotels are almost empty
and the prices are low!
.
The room wasn't ready yet,
so had a drink in the bar
- in the winter time afternoon tea is served in this cosy bar
.
Room 218
- facing Via della Spiga = shopping street!
.
Classic style,
comfortable room
. . Spacious bathroom
.
Stylish looking toilet products!
.
Library lounge
. View of Via della Spiga
from the room 218
.
Excellent location
Excellent service
Highly recommended!
- there's also a Guerlain Spa at the hotel
Situated in the vibrant heart of the city's shopping,
business and cultural centre,
the hotel faces right onto the most fashionable street of Milan,
Via della Spiga,
reachable through an elegant arcade,
and it is just a stone's throw away from
Via Montenapoleone, the Duomo
and the Teatro alla Scala.
The hotel opened in 1962
in a place where the waters
of the inner circle of the Navigli canals
once flowed near an old mill.
The extension work completed
at the beginning of 2002.
