About The Island

Saturday, October 1, 2011

The holiday in Kos was great and relaxing!
Also the hotel Helona Double Tree Hilton
was great!

Outside the hotel the world's different,
the whole island seems to be quite worn out,
no updating after the 80's or early 90's - sad but true!
Several boards informing of getting support from EU

No idea what's done with the money...
 More money...
 Lots of empty hotels
 Should do something
- so many buildings left empty all over the island
Well, this was the most common bill there...
- unfortunately it tells a lot

Lunch in Limionas

Sunday lunch at Limionas Fish Restaurant by the sea
Beautiful view of Dafni Bay from the restaurant
Fried small shrimps and mussels saganaki
and of course, Greek salad and tzatziki
Nice place!

Cakes!

 Something missing!
Of course there should be some cakes with the coffee and tea!
 Which one to choose:
this chocolate mousse one
or the one in the previous pic with chocolate and vanilla mousse
and cherry topping?
- actually had the both ones...
Found Caramel Bakery on the way back to the hotel from Mastihari
 Caramel Bakery shop in Antimahia
 Typical Greek sweet pastries
 Gorgeous bouganvilla in Antimahia
Neptunus statue in the harbour of Mastihari village
From Mastihari there's a ferry connection to
the island of Kalymnos
Not only sweets but also healthy Greek salad....

Dinners In Kardamena

Sometimes went to Kardamena for dinner to eat Greek food
- dolmades, keftedes, halloumi, Greek salad...
Traditional Greek restaurant Avli
- beautiful setting in the courtyard garden
- popular place

but after 8pm all thr tables're occupied
Pelagos restaurant
- almost the same meze as usual with
Greek salad, halloumi, keftedes, dolmades...
Something extra this time:
Grilled octopus
- delicious!
Pelagos restaurant

Liotrivi taverna
- meze to start with!

Livotrivi taverna

Ta Adelfia

The just baked pita bread also here
- so good!
The place was full of British tourists

Kardamena by Saturday night
- bars, sports bars, bars...

Driving In Kos

Looks almost like in the moon!
 A horse in Kardamena
 Another horse there
- got a bit scared and shut the car window
but then realized it was in leash...
A view of Kamari taken in Kefalos
- it was very windy up there
A view of the Kefalos Bay
 Rocky beach of Limionas
 Sandy beach of Limionas
These rocks separates the 2 beaches in Limionas
- one is rocky, the other one sandy

Zia

Friday, September 30, 2011

 Left the Kos town behind
and headed to a village called Zia
- located in the middle of Kos island
 Zia, up in the mountains
 Wild life of Zia
- happy hens walking free
That kitty knows how to pose to the camera!
 Asfendious Monastery of Zia
 The entrance to the Monastery
 Que enormes!
Nunca he visto geranios tan grandes!
A door in Greek blue surrounded by herbs and bouganvilla
 A cute alley in Zia
 Lunch time in Zia
- dolmades, horiatiki, keftedes, tzatsiki...
View from the taverna where had lunch
(forgot the name already, sorry!)
After the lunch drove down from Zia towards Kardamena
