Green is most commonly associated with nature, youth, spring, hope and envy in Europa and the US - sometimes also with death, sickness or the devil. In China its associations are very positive, as symbol of fertility.
Green is also the traditional colour of safety and permission; a green light means go ahead, a green card permits permanent residence in the US.
So let's have something green at home!
