GOOD MORNING!
This week's smoothie special is very simple. This recipe is meant for mornings when there's no fruit or berries around expect a banana. I like to add all kinds of super foods to my smoothies and spirulina is one of them.
Spirulina is blue-green coloured freshwater algae (a cousin to chlorella).
Here're some facts why to add spirulina to your smoothie:
- Lowers chance of stroke
- Reduces cholesterol
- Lowers blood pressure
- Helps prevent cancer
- Detoxes heavy metals
- Boosts energy
- Speeds up weight loss
- May be effective against anemia
- Contains antioxidants
Spirulina is rich in proteins, copper, iron, vitamins B1, B2 and B3, and it also contains magnesium, potassium and manganese.
My smoothie recipe:
1 banana
some fresh ginger
1 teaspoon lucuma powder
1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
1/2 reaspoon cinnamon powder
1 teaspoon spirulina powder
1 teaspoon coconut oil
soya milk
All in the blender for a few seconds.
Have you use spirulina in your smoothie or any other way?
