Welcome to Porvoo!

If you have time, make a day trip to Porvoo. It's definitely worth it! Especially the Old Town with old wooden houses, lovely interior shops, small lifestyle boutiques, delicatessens, cafes...

Porvoo is not a totally new nor strange place for me as I studied there for four years, ages ago though. Well, it has changed a lot for better since those times, but even then the Old Town was so idyllic. I remember Cafe Helmi from those years, but all the other lovely stores were new to me. 

As I never lived in Porvoo, I took every morning for four years a bus from Helsinki to Porvoo, so it is pretty easy to visit there even if you don't have a car. It's about 50km from Helsinki.

ps. for lunch I suggest Bistro Sinne, even though it's not in the Old Town, but you'll find it easily.

 If you are on your way to Porvoo from Helsinki, don't miss Kulloo!

There's a golf course and next to it Kulloon Kartano/Kullo Gård/Kullo Mansion, where a fantastic "Butiken på landet" boutique is located. There's also cottage accommodation available.  

Butiken på landet concept stores are lifestyle boutiques with casual and business wear for both women and men, shoes and decorative pieces for home.

Bistro Sinne: "Let Food Be Thy Medicine"

Minne mennä? No, sinne!

Had a fabulous lunch at Sinne in Porvoo, Finland. The place is located in the Art Factory on the western riverfront. Sinne serves seasonal food made of fresh ingredients from the local producers.  

Wanted to put the dessert pic in the beginning... the salt liquorice meringue was heavenly! But before eating that heavenly piece had chosen the Menu Porvoo which included Gazpacho with shrimps & spruce-scented oil, grilled local wild salmon with boiled potatoes & chantarelles and the for the dessert marinated strawberries with vanilla ice-cream & liquorice meringue.

Everything tasted fresh and all were so perfectly prepared. Finnish food at its best.

Simply delicious!
