On The Beach

Thursday, September 29, 2011

The hotel has its own sandy beach
with beds, shades and towels
- pic taken in the morning,
not so many people yet
 There's the beach
Hills on the other side of the hotel,
next to the beach
 Big waves and partly cloudy,
even some rain somewhere there
 Perfect wind for wind-surfing
- didn't try though...
Vow, what a natural wonder or perhaps made by the Romans
or a tourist last week...
Someone has made a nice little house up there!
A closer look of the modern houses up on the hill
The beach is partly very fine black vulcanic sand
which makes it very interesting

Meals At The Hotel

Wednesday, September 28, 2011

Breakfast was served at the buffet restaurant
- it was ok, the view was perfect,
a bit too crowded as everyone arrived at the same time
 Lunch and dinner were served
at Thalassa a la carte restaurant
 As in Greece
Greek food is a must!
Lunch at Thalassa restaurant
- Greek salad, tzatziki...
 Zucchini balls
 Cheese saganaki

Sometimes had lunch at Ammos Beach Bar
- Greek salad
You could also take a lunch box to the beach or by the pool
 Clun sandwich with fries
- not so Greek, though
 Lobster moussaka
at Thalassa a la carte
- extremely delicious!
Squids stuffed with feta, capers, sun-dried tomato
- huge portion, 2 squids would've been enough

There's also a buffet restaurant
- had it once, but it wasn't nothing special
- most of the nights ate out of the hotel in Kardamena

Helona Resort - Double Tree Hilton

 The first morning in Kos
- a view from room 425
- the sea and own pool, not bad!
 Entrance to the room 425
 Very comfy bed
 Spacious bathroom
Both bath and shower cabin in the bathroom
 Got hot chocolate chip cookies
at the reception upon the arrival
- nice welcome!
Fresh fruit ready in the room
- well, why not all local fruit?
-  kiwis from New Zeeland are not very ecological,
are they?
Actually shared the pool with some neighbours,
British and Italians
- most of them on the beach during the day time
 Helona Resort
 Hotel pool for everyone

 Reception of the hotel
 Oriental design
The hotel was opened recently
and owned by Hilton
Detail of a beautiful oriental lamp
Detail of the golden mosaic wall
 The place never looked crowded
even though it was fully-booked
 Pools by night
- the water was lumiated by colour changing lights
from turquise to deep purple
By the pool at the terrace of room 425
 The front of the hotel
- luggage was transfered by golf carts

 Someone's nest up there!
Very nice hotel
with a good service
- there's also a spa with inside pool,
hammam, sauna and plenty of different treaments
- had anti-cellulite and lymfa massage
with orange oil
