Roman ruins in Spain!
Not a huge fan of archeological ruins - seen so many of them during my life and they all look pretty much the same. Anyways, it was nice to visit this place in Bolonia near about 20km from Tarifa in the province of Cadiz in autonomous community Andalucia. It makes wonder how advanced people were 2.000 years ago, and how it all was destroyed and the knowhow was forgotten.
The ancient name of this Roman town is Baelo Claudia. You can find there a Roman theatre, thermal baths, temples, shops, market square, courthouse...
Beside the archeological site there is a very contemporary looking museum. I really like the clean lines of the building. The views from the site are peacefully beautiful - turquoise, soft shades of greige & ochre and hint of emerald green. An impressive place with wonderful soothing atmosphere.

Roomalaisia raunioita Espanjassa!
En tosiaankaan ole mikään arkeologisten raunioiden fani. Sen verran tullut niitä nähtyä vuosien varrella ja mielestäni ne kaikki näyttää niin samanlaisilta. Tästä huolimatta tykkäsin kaydä ja nähdä paikan päällä Boloniassa sijaitsevat roomalaiset rauniot. Pistää ihmettelemään miten edistyksellisiä ihmiset ovat olleet jo 2000 vuotta sitten ja miten se kaikki tuhoutui ja tietotaito unohtui.
Bolonia sijaitsee noin 20 km Tarifasta Cadizin provinsissa Andalucian maakunnassa. Tämän roomalaisen kaupungin nimi oli Baelo Claudia. Raunioista on löytynyt roomalainen teatteri, kylpylä, temppeleitä, kauppoja, tori, oikeustalo...
Arkeologisten kaivausten lisäksi alueella on museo. Jotenkin todella hyvin maisemaan sopiva moderni rakennus - ainakin minä tykkään kovin. Maisemat ovat kauniin rauhalliset - meren turkoosia, pehmeitä harmaan ja okran sävyjä sekä ripaus smaragdin vihreää siellä sun täällä. Vaikuttava paikka, jossa hieno rauhoittava tunnelma.
Bolonia is just a short drive from Tarifa and its sandy beaches.
Santa Catalina Castle (built in 1931) is a symbol of Tarifa.
