This year I skipped the yearly Housing Fair, which was this time organized in an eastern town called Mikkeli, even though I was spending some time in that part of Finland in July. I'm not so familiar with eastern Finland so it was so wonderful to have a chance to visit there and drive around to see new places.
Here are some pics from the local sights - amazing wooden church of Kerimäki and amusing sculpture park in Parikkala. As we are in the Lake Country, I just had to add a couple photos with a lake view.

The church of Kerimäki is the world's largest Christian wooden church and the most spacious interior in Finland. The church can accommodate even 5 000 people - seating capacity for over 3 000 persons. The constructuon work was completed in 1847.

(FI) Kerimäen kirkko on maailman suurin puukirkko ja Suomen suurin kirkkotila. Kirkkoon mahtuu jopa 5.000 ihmistä, istumapaikkoja on yli 3.000. Kirkon rakennustyöt valmistuivat vuonna 1847.
There're around 560 concrete statues design by Veijo Rönkkönen (1942-2010) in the Parikkala Statue Park. The statues are in the nature in the middle of flowers. The atmosphere there is very unique and almost creepy. 255 concrete yogis in practise are a pretty impressive sight.

(FI) Parikkalan Patsaspuistossa on noin 560 Veijo Rönkkösen (1942-2010) taiteilemaa betonifiguuria. Patsaat ovat luonnon keskellä kukkien seassa. Tunnelma puistossa on ainutlaatuinen ja osittain jopa pelottava. 255 betonijoogaajaa on aika vaikuttava näky.
