Autumn Table Decoration Workshop

Stay organic, stay simple!
Those are the keywords what comes to flower decoration.
Once again had a wonderful flower workshop by flowerMe. This time it was organized at my home and the topic was autumn table decoration. We were 6 adults and 4 kid - ideal amount of persons to fit my kitchen.

flowerMe's Mihaela was teaching how to turn simple floral design into beautiful works of art. She provided the flowers, gave some great tips how to start and continue the process, and the result was up to everyone's own taste. So many beautiful bouquets and all very different!

(FI) flowerMe'n Mihaela opetti miten saada yksinkertaisesta kukkapuskasta kaunis taideteos.

It's important to let the flowers speak for themselves, not to suffocate them but keep them organic & green and let them fit where they go naturally.

(FI)On tärkeää antaa kukkien itsensä olla pääosassa eikä tukahduttaa niitä vaan säilyttää kukkien luonnollisuus ja vihreys sekä antaa niiden asettua niille luonnollisella omalla tavalla.

Quite often floral designs are arranged in a triangle or round shape so that they are rather packed and go perfectly inside a vase. In this autumn table decoration workshop we didn't do it that way. Instead we concentrated on asymmetrical, free flowing, natural and wild arrangements. More like a garden style than being tightly positioned and forced into vases.

When choosing the flowers she had naturally autumn in mind. We had so many beautiful flowers - roses, different varieties of chrysanthemums, sunflowers, sedums, snapdragons, alstroemerias etc just to mention a few.

Preparation
Clean all the wilted leaves & flowers.
Remove all the leaves from the stems so that no leaves will stay in the water.
Cut the stems at an angle to permit as much water as possible to hydrate the flower.
Place all the cleaned flowers in buckets filled with fresh water.
Store the flowers in a cool place and avoid direct exposure to the sun.

****

  4. I prefer a free flowing arrangement than those that you often see in flower shops. These are much more beautiful to look at especially with the colors of the autumn!
