Why To add Lucuma Powder to Morning Smoothie?

Sunday, August 21, 2016

I have pretty similar type of smoothie every morning. I use lots of berries and fruit depending on the season and what's available in the market place near my home.

There are some ingredients that I always use no matter which berries or fruit I add. Those are chia seeds, ginger, cinnamon & turmeric powder and also lucuma powder.

I use lucuma because it gives a sweet taste, although it's not really needed as the main ingredients of my smoothies are pretty sweet, but it's packed with potassium, iron and zinc as well. Lucuma is a natural sweetener. The fruit itself comes from Peru and it's dried at a low temperature into a nutritious orange-colour powder.

My berry smoothie
  • 2 cups of blackberries
  • 1 banana
  • a bite of fresh ginger
  • 2 tbsp of chia seeds
  • 1/2 tsp of turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp of cinnamon powder
  • 1 tbs od lucuma powder
  • coconut milk
  • some raspberries for garnish

How about blueberry smoothie? Or with red currants

  3. I like to make smoothies from time to time, at the office, as a meal replacement. They are always healthy and provide enough vitamins to give you energy and get you going. I didn't hear about lucuma before. I'll go to Peru soon so I'll try and find the real fruit :)

  8. Your smoothies are so healthy, you always make me screenshot the recipe! Mt breakfast is usually oatmeal with one frutie - I make it myself, I am not a fan of processwed food. Although, I often buy oatmeal in a bag or cup whem I travel. It's better than a cheezeburger!

Can you provide more information on how it tastes like? How I wish we'll have an access to Lucuma powder. -Me-An Clemente of http://yogoandcream.com
