San Polo

Saturday, April 24, 2010

Walked from Dorsoduro to San Polo
.
San Polo is famous for its
huge fish market
&
lively bars
.
San Polo district on the left side
& San Marco district on the right side of
Rialto bridge
- Rialto is the oldest bridge in Venice
built in 16th-century
designed by architect Ponte (=bridge!)
- nowadays there are more than 400 bridges in Venice
.
Instead of lunch had a light snack
at the terrace of Naranzaria:
Prosecco Villa Ronch
Cicchetti
Polpette de carne
& orange juice- nice & quiet terrace
before 15 Italian businesmen decided to have lunch there...
.
The magnificent Gothic facade of
the Ca' d'Oro
.
View of Grand Canal at San Polo
.
On Friday the weather was cloudy
& partly rainy
- not a big problem as dressed properly
