The spring was already there in Split in March when I had a chance to visit this historic city. Split is the second largest city in Croatia and largest on Dalmatian coast. It is home to one of the best preserved Roman remains in the world, the Diocletian Palace. The old town includes more than 200 buildings. Within its white stone walls and under its courtyards and galleries are shops, bars, cafes, hotels... Great place to spend a day, just by walking around and exploring the narrow alleys and sit for a coffee or lunch. Btw, had one of the best seafood risotto ever at the terrace of restaurant Bajamonti.
Fact corner:
The population of Split is app. 178.000 inhabitants.
