Arrived to Salzburg in the afternoon
- the fourth-largest city in Austria

Getreidegasse in the old town
- one of the oldest streets in Salzburg
with plenty of shops
- our hotel is located on Getreidegasse as well
Almost every shop has its own wrought-iron sign
Christmas is always all around in Salzburg
Before climbing up to the Hohensalzburg Fortress
had a break at Demel's
Cute and delicious pink Rose Macaron
Chocolate is not the best thing to buy home
during the summer season...
Sweets to go
at Demel's
Mozartplatz 2
Took a horse carriage to the fortress - NOT!
- not the funicular neither
instead took a 15min-walk up there...
The Hohensalzburg Castle
(Festung Hohensalzburg)
on a hill dominating the old town is
one of the largest castles in Europe,
with views over Salzburg.

Made it up to the Hohensalzburg Fortress!
- got some rain up there for a couple of minutes
Oh, what a view from the fortress!

Salzburg's "Old Town" (Altstadt)
 has internationally renowned baroque architecture
and one of the best-preserved city centres north of the Alps.
It was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1997.

Colourfull setting of mix flowers
The St Peter's Abbey with the Petersfriedhof

The graveyard of St Peter's Abbey
contains catacombs
Caves on the side of the hill
