Before going to the beach
had breakfast at Balans on Collins Avenue
on Friday morning
- heard that it's a great place for having breakfast
and that was true!
Spinach omelet was very good,
well, the potatoes a bit too much
but the toasted slices of bread're crispy & tasty
.
Balans is next to Nest,
the nice interior shop
.
Had a great day on the beach reading
"Sand in my bra"
.
This is the weekend for
the Ultra Music Festival
.
Absolutely not my type of music!
.
Miami Beach Police seguring the safety
.
In the evening went to the Tides
on Ocean Drive for drinks
- built in 1936
- an iconic Art Deco landmark with its
striking Deco facade finished with
oolitic limestone and white chunks of coral
.
The terrace of the Tides
1200 Ocean Drive
.
Beautiful restaurant of the Tides
designed by Kelly Wearstler
- one of my favourite interior designers!
.
Cosy corner of the restaurant
Heard that the food is not as gorgeous as the interior....
.
Elegant restroom
.
The Tides
1220 Ocean Drive
.
Time for dinner
At first planned to go to Osteria del Teatro
- the Italian restaurant on Washington Avenue
but didn't quite like the menu
so went across the road
for a Mexican meal
.
Mixed appetizer for 2
- very nice
.
Chiles rellenos
- ok, but extremely heavy,
at least after the appetizer
.
Oh Mexico
on the corner of Washington Ave & Espanola Way
- not a gourmet place but food is ok
and the service good
.
