Bye-Bye Bahamas!

Saturday, March 5, 2011

Thursday was the last whole day in the Bahamas
- did the packing and rode to Hope Town
First stop at the Coffee Shop

As the fridge was already empty
went to Harbour Edge for lunch
- the club sandwich was not exactly what had in mind...
.
Didn't have that hiuge sandwich with curly fries
- instead had this Ceasar salad
with club soda

In the evening went to dine to Harbour Lodge
with Steve & Marjorie
.
The front terrace of Harbour Lodge
with the view of Hope Town harbour
.
Very nice & cosy dining room of Harbour Lodge
- no pics of the meals but had
grilled mahi mahi,
which was very good
- met there among others
Steve's & Marjorie's friend Susan,
an architect who's a big fan of Alvar Aalto & Finland!

Our fantastic hosts in the Abacos
Marjorie & Steve
- extremely caring people!
.
Marsh Harbour airport
- not a huge one!
Had 12.10pm flight to Miami on Friday
.
Last views of the Abacos
- certainly will go back there!

Marsh Harbour

Thursday, February 10, 2011

Made a day trip to Marsh Harbour
by ferry
Leaving Hopetown

It takes about 20mins from Hopetown
to Marsh Harbour
- actually there's not much to see
in Marsh Harbour,
it's more like a commercial center
with banks, a couple of jewellery boutiques
and souvenier shops
.
Valentine's Day's baskets
.
There're 2 things what people usually do
while in Marsh Harbour:

Number 1: Kentucky Fried Chicken
- when it was first opened in the '80s
it was number 1 in sales in the whole world!
- the Bahamians love chicken!
- skipped that this time
.
Number 2: Maxwell's
- the biggest grocery in the Bahamas
- made some food shopping there
.
Took the 11.30am ferry from Hopetown
and return by 2pm ferry
.
Today's ice-cream: Mint chocolate
at Sugar Shack
.
What a sweet couple!
