Portofino is a place with luxus flavour. It's known for beautiful old houses, super expensive boats, high-end boutiques yest relaxed atmosphere. It's located about 5km from Santa Margherita Ligure, where we were staying for part of our summer vacation road trip.
Of, course, you can go there by cat, but there's such a nice walking trail that we absolutely wanted to go by foot that route. On the way there're so many gorgoeus houses with stunning views that just had to stop and admire them. Most of the houses or actually palaces were really old but so well-kept.
Part of the route is a really nice footpath in the forest. It starts from Paraggi and goes all the way to Portofino. The scent of pine trees was so refershing in a hot August weather.
In August the beaches in Liguria are packed. The beaches are quite small and narrow like the one in Paraggi, between Santa Margherita Ligure and Portofino. All of the beaches are private meaning that you need to buy a ticket to enter there. The entrance fe for 2 persons including 2 sunbeds and 1 umbrella costs 80€. The hotels have a small slice of the beach in front of them and if you stay in that hotel, you get the entrance a bit cheaper.
Not a bad place for a villa up there!

are more like cafés and bars than real restaurants, so we picked up a place inside the town. Most of the clients had already finished their lunch so we got a nice table on the terrace.
Here's the menu we chose at Ristorante Batti:

Some Russians were ordering the forest strawberries as well, but they asked to have the berries "in Moscow style" meaning: strawberries, vanilla ice-cream & a bottle of grand marnier. The forest strawberries were absolutely wonderful, even without all those side dishes.
.
We left the restaurant just as the complimentary bottles of grappa & limoncello were brought to the table of our funny friends from Russia...
