The book is not necessarily about Normandy landing even though it all happens in Normandy and the landing is present in the protagonist's life. Riikka Ala-Harja's novel "Maihinnousu" (landing) is about surviving. Even though death is near there's hope, the misery never takes it all. There are things in life that one can control and things one can't. There are things one should have seen coming and things one just never could've seen.
The book is written with intensive sentences without painting them too much. Everything can be said shortly & effectively. This is a strong novel. Life can be a chaos, full of stress and anxiety and still it's possible to survive. Just need to be brave and face it.
