Sunday, May 3, 2009

Skipped the breakfast, almost...
Had a gorgeous take-away cupcake & peppermint tea
on the way
.

Magnolia Bakery
1240 Ave of the Americas
"Cupcakes make people happy!"
...
The day was much cooler today, app. 18C
.
Walked to Columbus Circle
and had a look at Time Warner Center
.
View from Time Warner Center to Columbus Circle

The famous blue door of Perse
- didn't have chance to enter,
maybe next time...
Perse has been chocen as the best restaurant in New York
by Zagat
The chef Thomas Keller has also French Laundry in Napa
.
Before lunch made some shopping at Bloomingdales
- 2 pairs of black flipflops
.
Lunch at Forty Carrots at Bloomigdales

Crab meat salad
- delicious "light" lunch - huge portion
Fresh healthy meals
Lots of elderly ladies having their lunch there
Rating: 4/5
...
Had booked a private car by the hotel
to take to the JFK at 3.30pm
- journey took app.1h
.
Had some problems at the airport in terminal 7:
wanted to check-in at a counter,
but a BA employee didn't let
- said that the check-in must be done by a machine,
but it wasn't possible because of the connection flight
- this real pain-in-the-arse middle-aged lady
kept on telling to check-in by the machine
until another BA person told her that in this case
it was not possible to check-in there
- the check-in lady at the counter was very kind & helpful
...
The flight to London was supposed to leave at 7.05pm,
but because of a no-show
- had checked-in the luggage but didn't make it to the flight
all the suitcases had to be taken out of plane to find that.
The departure was 1,10h delayed.
Had a window seat without anyone sitting next to
- luxury!
Watched "Marley & me"
and slept a couple of hours.
Already at 1am came the breakfast,
the flight took only 6h.
At 2am the plane landed and it was already 7am in London...
