New York on Monday

Monday, April 27, 2009

Monday started with cream cheese (low fat) bagel,
cup of tea and freshly squeezed orange juice
at Cafe Metro
Lexington/46th Street
.
Shopping day so went to Fifth Avenue:
Saks, Niketown, Bergdorf Goodman, Henri Bendel,
Abercrombie, Cole Haan, Coach...
.

Depression has also hit the Fifth Avenue
- lots of prime retail spaces to let
.
- all the European brands are much more expensive in NY than in Europe
(year ago it wasn't so!),
so after checking Missoni, Prada & Jimmy Choo
decided to concentrate on American brands
.
Snack time on the 7th floor of Saks:
.
Pink Champagne Tryffle
- have to buy a box of them to home!
All the petit fours & chocolates were placed on a moving track
like in a sushi bar
- beautifully made place
.
At Saks checked Dolce & Gabbana's make up branch
- nothing interesting really
& had planned to buy Estee Lauder's new
mineral foundation & loose powder
but after waiting for 5mins or so at the booth
decided to buy them somewhere else
.
At Henri Bendel's a make-up artist at Chanel booth
asked if she could refresh my make-up
- made a nice soft summer day make-up
- bought Chanel's tinted moisturiser:
Hydramax + Active teinte, 15 Sunlit
- maybe better choice than Estee Lauder
as all the other cosmetic products in use are by Chanel
.
Bought a silk blouse by Diane von Furstenberg
at Henry Bendel's
- nice & colourful
.
Bought some t-shirts and polos at
Abercrombie & Fitch
- hate the place: can't see or hear anything
it's so dark & the music is so loud
- but the t-shirts are so soft & comfy!
.
Found a handbag hook at Cole Haan!
- been looking for those for a long time
.
Lunch, a late one, at Brasserie Ruhlmann
at Rockefeller Plaza
.
.
- great location, nice to sit outside on a terrace
The food was a disappoinment
- had been there before and the food was always good
- this time had salad with tuna:
.

huge portion of mixed salad & canned tuna

Ratings: 2/5
Service was good and the atmosphere

Enough of shopping, feet were hurting.
Took the bags to the hotel,
changed the shoes
& walked to Central Park
...

In the evening too tired to go anywhere,
just bought a take-away pizza "Extra vaganza"
at Domino's Pizza
